For 2010 there was no international Precision Championships. However, Slovakia hosted the World Rally Flying Championships in August 2010 from the airfield at Dubnica.

The team managed to return to the UK after 2 days of flying across Europe, with the weather definitely not on their side. The Championships provided a real challenge and it was pleasing to see some good results from Chris Barnes and Martin Reynolds, who are in their second season together as a crew. On one route they achieved a score of 176 penalties which gained a tenth place and their overall finishing position of fifteenth out of sixty crews was a very good effort. Rodney and Celeste Blois, the second GB crew had mixed fortunes with regards to results. Celeste survived her 'baptism of fire' as an international navigator and by the end of the competition had gained a lot of experience. As always the team results are based on the total scores of your top 2 crews (assuming you are lucky enought to have more than 2 crews!!), which placed team GB in tenth place out of the 17 countries represented. For a full set of results, photos, videos and much more please go to the competition website - the link is in the paragraph below.

So we have had 2 days of competition. Unfortunately day one was a disaster with both crews picking up heavy penalties, luckily day 2, despite a harder navigation plot saw improved results. The whole team is hoping for good weather for the remainder of the week, so that Tuesday will then be declared an 'official practice day' and that score will be excluded from the final results. On the Championship website ( www.wrfc-2010.sk ) they have produced some very good videos of the event which are well worth a viewing !!

All the team have arrived safely in Dubnica and started flying practice routes. Although a full route was managed yesterday, today's low cloudbase over the higher parts of the route curtailed a full days training. With the forecast looking good for tomorrow, hopes are high that we may manage to get 2 routes flown.

Entry fees have been submitted and paid to the Slovakians. Many thanks to Peter Grist (the Treasurer) for once again organising the overseas transfer of funds.
